I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 24 years of registered nursing experience in inpatient care, eighteen providing support to women and newborns in labor, delivery, and postpartum as well as six years of experience as a pediatric nurse. I obtained my BSN from Southern New Hampshire University and my MSN in nursing as (APRN) PMHNP-BC from Frontier Nursing University. I am licensed and board-certified, and I am dedicated to lifelong learning and professional excellence.
As a prescriber, my philosophy of care is that medication can be a valuable and sometimes essential tool in treating psychiatric conditions. Medication can help uplift and stabilize our mood, manage challenging symptoms, and may be so helpful as to offer complete remission of symptoms. That said, medications may also have side effects that may not be helpful and need to be carefully considered. I also wholeheartedly believe in the benefits of therapy as a crucial step in many of life’s mental health challenges.
My education spans the spectrum of psychiatric disorders and lifespan, allowing me to provide medication management in psychiatric care for individuals of all ages, however I am experienced in the care of youth, adolescents, and women. My approach to care is characterized by compassion and a non-judgmental attitude during psychiatric assessments, medication management, and brief psychotherapeutic support. I deeply respect diversity and authenticity, recognizing that each person possesses their own unique strengths and challenges, and holds the expertise of their own story. I prioritize active listening, respectful communication, and collaborative decision-making when creating a personalized treatment plan based on current medical evidence. If appropriate and with your permission, I may also collaborate with your therapist and medical provider. My commitment is to work in partnership with you to enhance your well-being and improve the quality of your life, helping you with your mental health needs.
