My name is David and I am a clinical social worker and licensed addiction counselor. In graduate school training practicums I gained an appreciation in how one’s family experience can drastically affect and shape a person’s perspective about themselves, the world, others, and the future. I also learned how trauma can drastically and significantly effect a child’s brain development, their emotional development, and their attachment to others.

I utilize an approach to treatment called narrative therapy in which I help my clients learn how to change their perspective about problems in their lives and learn to reframe themselves as a survivor or thriver versus feeling victimized and oppressed by their problems.

I continue to utilize a combination of family therapy and narrative approaches which impart a lasting and powerful understanding of how the environment can shape one's behavior and how a person can learn to shape their own perceptions of family, friends, and community and lead to answers to one's life stressors.
